Cook’s Outfitting offers guided black bear hunts in the remote forests of western Saskatchewan, Canada, with bear season opening August 25 and hunts running into September. With far less hunting pressure than eastern regions, black bears here are more plentiful and less fearful, allowing hunters to observe natural bear behavior for extended periods — sometimes 30 to 45 minutes at a time. It’s a rare, immersive glimpse into bear life that most hunts never experience. Enjoy a professionally guided, low-pressure hunt on managed territory with personalized service and quality accommodations.

Hunting With Chris

Hunting is more than a passion for me — it’s a lifestyle. One of the most rewarding parts of guiding trophy black bear hunts is introducing people to the bears themselves and helping them experience the hunt in a calm, confident, and ethical way.

Where we hunt, bears are under less pressure, which often allows hunters the rare opportunity to observe bear behavior for extended periods of time. These moments help hunters learn to judge size, understand movement, and make decisions without feeling rushed. Whether it’s your first bear hunt or you’ve been hunting for years, my goal is to help you feel prepared, confident, and excited when the moment arrives.

I also truly enjoy welcoming hunters back year after year. Many of our guests return to hunt with us again, bringing friends or family along to share the experience. Those relationships, built over time in camp and in the field, are what make guiding so meaningful to me.
